How to delete duplicates?

A litle tip today:

Do you have duplicate objects in your dwg?

Use the command OVERKILL to get rid of them.

I recommend that you read about this command in the AutoCad help document before using it. It might remove more than you want.

Personally I find the command very usefull.

Create sections of 3D solids, meshes or surfaces.

To create a section of a 3D solid, mesh or surface use the SECTIONPLANE command.

SECTIONPLANE
- Draw a line (actualy a plane) to define the section. The sectionplane can be moved to create other sections later.

Then use the command LIVESECTION to view the selcted section.

Autocad trouble? Need some help?

Feel free to post me an e-mail at dakcad@gmail.com if you have any autocad related questions. The answer might show up as a new posting at my blog.

Also feel free to comment on my older posts.

Quick tip for the day:
When operating in 3D you can enter the 3D-orbit-mode by pressing the shift button at the same time as you are using the pan-function om your mouse (pressing the scroll-wheel).

Reverse linetype.

A nice little command today..

REVERSE

You can use this command to reverse the direction of a polyline.
If you have a polyline with a linetype containing text or symbols heading the wrong direction you now have an easy solution.

PDF files in Autocad

It is possible to use pdf files as underlay in a dwg file.

Simply use the command PDFATTACH, and choose your pdf.

But remember that this will make your dwg work slow. It might be a better idea to convert the pdf to a jpg.

Free CAD applications.

While searching the internet i found this overview of free CAD applications...

I have not tested any of the applications, but i guess you will find something useful here. If you only have a litle job you'll have to do there is no need for buying expencive CAD-applications like Autocad or Microstation.

Another possibility is to download an Autocad-testversion for free use in 30 days.
There is several millons Autocad usere across the world, so getting help would probably be easier if you choose Autocad.
